Luis & Darwin Mizhirumbay

From a small Ecuadorian town to two generations of New Jersey roofers.

Luis G. Mizhirumbay grew up in a small rural community in Ecuador, where work was just part of everyday life and nobody handed you anything. In the late 1990s he came to Newark, New Jersey, looking for a better future for his family — and he found his way into roofing the way most people do: on the ground crew. Carrying materials. Cleaning job sites. Loading debris at the end of long, hot days.

He learned the craft from the bottom up — ground crew, then installer, then crew leader — until he understood not just how a roof goes together, but what it really means to stand on top of someone's home and be responsible for protecting everything underneath it. In 2006, he took everything he'd learned and founded LGM Roofing, named for his own initials, built on one simple rule he still repeats today: treat every home as if it were your own.

For years, Luis carried nearly all of it himself — the crews, the customers, the quotes, the callbacks. He built a reputation the slow, honest way: roof after roof across North and Central New Jersey, and a habit of standing behind his work long after the job was done. Homeowners still call him back six, even twenty years later — and he still shows up.

His son Darwin grew up watching that. After graduating, Darwin started exactly where his father had — on the ground crew — then went and built his own company in the trades, learning marketing, operations, and the systems that make a business run. In 2025 he came back to LGM with one goal: to build a team around his father, so the man who built this company could finally share the weight of it.

Today, they run it together. Luis still leads production — decades of field wisdom no spreadsheet will ever replace. Darwin runs operations, and brings the piece the trade has always been missing: real communication, real systems, and the technology that lets every homeowner watch their roof being built in real time, from anywhere in the world. So you never have to wonder what's happening on your own home.
